Don’t Forget The Gear (Companies)!

Ernie Ball/Music Man Promo

Ernie Ball/Music Man Promo

Just a quick post today.  One of my images of John Myung (one that I posted about earlier here) is being used by Ernie Ball/Music Man for some promo materials.  They are a great company that builds some amazing instruments.  Their strings are awesome, too!

I’ve been working with them a lot over the last few years that I’ve been touring with Dream Theater.  As some of you know, I do a lot of shooting during the shows (in addition to my bass tech duties) and the company has wound up using several of my shots.  Both Johns (Petrucci and Myung) use Ernie Ball strings and Music Man guitars, so it’s a great opportunity for me to get some of my images published.  I’ve had shots  in Guitar Aficionado and Young Guitar magazines, as well as Guitar Player and Guitar World.

For any live music photographers out there – don’t forget about gear companies as an option to sell your images and get them published.  If you get a great shot of a performer that also shows the guitar/amp/effects/etc that they use, contact the company and see if they may be interested (you can typically find contact info on their websites).  It can be a challenge to make money in the photography industry, so any potential revenue stream should be explored.

See you next time!
